Family Subscriptions not working

I'm trying to get my brother set up on my family premium program and it's not working with this error:

 

Sorry! We cannot join you to Premium for Family since you have subscribed to Spotify Premium from another store (e.g. iTunes or your mobile operator).

 

I've confirmed that he has spotify free and has no associated payments with his account.

What the error message is saying is that you cannot family share if the subscription was purchased via iTunes, Google Play, etc.

It wasn't purchased through any of those options. It was purchased directly through the Spotify website.

We are having almost the same problem.  My husband invites me to join family and when I input my info, I circle back to same screen.  Nothing happens.  When contacting Spodify, we get the same robo-answer (BTW....two different questions).  Did you ever get anyone from Spodify to contact you?
