Fed up with Spotify

A month ago Spotify had problems with its software with the consequence that I was suddenly degraded from an Unlimited account to a free account. Obviously I`d paid my monthly dues but I was nonetheless cut off from Spotify for a number of days. Finally everything got sorted out  with the laconic remark that I`d created a second account on Facebook. I did nothing of the sort. Today Spotify, I presume, upgraded their software and down graded me to a free user again and I DID NOT create another account anywhere. The conclusion now is that I`m back to square one and Spotify still has a mess with its accounts and software and that I`m really pissed off with Spotify.

That's the first time I've seen a Spotify employee openly admit that the Facebook integration is a mess and the only way to be set up "properly" and avoid complications is by not using Facebook for authentication 🙂

It's a pity that no one listened 2 years ago when a bunch of us super users here in the community tried to tell you that creating an unbreakable bond with Facebook was a bad idea.

Hi Steve,

Fuchsloch1a/rooicat was experiencing issues because they were using an account created through Facebook as though it was username account. Now they have been set up with a proper username account, they shouldn't have any more trouble 😉

Anyway, it's Friday and I notice that you and I share a very similar music taste (The Blue Nile and Talk Talk are particular favourites), so here's another favourite or two (or three) that you may also enjoy:

It's still way too easy to create an account via Facebook without even knowing you're doing it, the number of users asking for help here in the Community is testement to that. Either that or the IQ of the average Spotify user is rather low, but I couldn't possible comment on that 😉
