Gift Card

Solved!

Gift Card

Hi, I'm really addicted to this app. I always bring my smartphone to class just to listen to music. This app is the best out there but my BIGGEST PROBLEM is the gift card and I lived in Canada. I can't buy Spotify gift card here and I'm a grade eight student and I can't borrow my parents' credit card because they don't want me to use it. Okay, enough of the story. My question is: Can I use a gift card from Google Play, iTunes or other? If so, how?

Hello @RoyalSpade. Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

I went through this with games on Steam for a few years, so I totally feel your pains in regards to buying stuff online, but not having a Credit Card of your own. I have a suggestion you could let you parents know about that may help, however.

First, to answer your question, Spotify Canada only supports payments through a Credit Card, Paypal, or through Paysafecards. You cannot use iTunes or Google Play Store cards to subscribe to Spotify Premium at this time.

Now, my method for making online payments easier and safer with credit cards is to link a Credit Card to a PayPal account. If your parents are OK with it you could ask them to setup a PayPal account with their Credit Card, which effectively masks their card number when making payments online, keeping the card safer than if you just used the card number itself. Just be sure your parents are the ones creating the PayPal account, and that they keep track of all relevant loging emails and passwords used to create this acocunt.

This is what I did for quite a few years before getting my own card, and my parents were OK with it because of PayPal protecting their Credit Card, as long as I still paid them upfront for anything I wanted to buy, of course.

Let me know how this works for you, and keep on Rockin'!
