Gift card - Hong kong

Hi guys, I have a UK based account which I am trying to change to Hong Kong so I can use a gift card. My premium has run out. I get to the update details screen and change my country to Hong Kong but after this it still only gives me the option of credit card/PayPal? I've tried to Spotify/redeem but that doesn't recognise the code (I domt think I can update my personal details until I have updated payment as it just keeps redirecting me to payment page) any help is appreciated

If you had had Premium before you first need to update your payment details (you'll be charged) in order to change your country to Hong Kong.

I've cancelled my premium subscription.

Now been able to change my country to Hong Kong but gift card isn't accepted, saying invalid code. Checked it 4 times so I know I'm getting it right.
