Gift card payments

I bought my daughter a gift card for Xmas to use on her premium family account.  No where on the gift card does it say that it cannot be used for payment on an account, yet it will not let her apply to her account.  Is the only recourse to dispute the charge on my VISA card that I used to purchase?

Gift cards are not redeemable in conjunction with other discounts or promotions, such as Premium for Family, student discount, or trial offers.

But not on the gift card...for people who do not have an account would not be privy to this before buying.  Or for the grandmother who does not have the internet to attain this information prior to purchase, which is the case in our family.  By reading the back of the gift card itself prior to purchase, nothing is stated there. Buyer beware seems to be the mantra...
