Giving a gift subscription to a non-Facebook user

I have been a Spotify premium account holder since  early last summer.  I just tried to get my son to join but learned about the mandatory Facebook requirement.    I am sure there has been much discussion on this forum about the matter but I want to register my objection to this business approach no matter how investor-savvy it might seem.  It is offensive to say the least. There should be an option to use Spotify without having to identify oneself as a Facebook user. or to create a pseudo-FB ]account.  Many would pay a higher price just to opt out of the Facebook nonsense.  I hope the Spotify management will at least consider other ways to draw new subscribers and maintain older ones.
