Heads up! Student Premium Problems

Heads up! Student Premium Problems

Hi everyone. I'd just like to make everyone aware that I've seen lots of people with problems with Student Premium lately. These problems include:

  • Being overcharged (I've seen up to five times from some people)
  • Not getting Premium service
  • Being flagged as not eligible when eligible

You might just need to do simple diagnosics to fix these problems. I've seen lots of people have done these, but it's always worth ticking each diagnostic off your checklist anyway.

  • Check if you paid for Premium on an account linked to your e-mail or linked to Facebook. If you're linked to Facebook, your username on your receipt will be a 10-digit number. If you're not, your username on your receipt will be your username. Log in with the appropriate account (Facebook accounts should use Facebook's log in) and see if you have Premium features.
  • Go to https://www.spotify.com/account/overview/ and check if you actually have Premium service activated on your account. If you do then keep reading. If you're still on Free and have transactions on your bank statement, contact Spotify.
  • If you're still not getting Premium, reinstall your app. Uninstall and reinstall from your App Store or from Spotify.com.
  • Try using the Web Player and check if you can get Premium features there, it's at https://play.spotify.com

These problems shouldn't occur, but do. If you're affected by these problems and diagnostics don't help, your best bet is to contact Spotify Support at: https://support.spotify.com/contact-spotify-support/?contact - they have the power to do something. It's great to let the Community know, but these problems are pretty widespread, so it's best that appropriate advice is put in one thread rather than scattered all about the forum.

Good luck getting these problems sorted out, Students!
