How do I remove my account?

My Question or Issue

My email address was used to create an account (now I know why I kept getting emails from spotify), however I recently wanted to sign up and now need to figure out how to change my display name (I refuse to display 'walmart' as my name). Apparently this isn't easy to do and would require creating a new account? I still want to use the same email, so how do I do that?

Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting your question here!

To solve this issue, you can start over with a new Spotify account while also keeping the same email address as well as the music linked to your current account.

Thank you, I did remove my account, would have been easier to have an option to change my display name though... overall not a great first experience for me to have.

If you wish Spotify provided its users with an option to edit their display name even after having already picked one during the 'sign-up' process, feel free to suggest this as an idea. To do so:

1. Go to the Spotify Community
2. Click on Menu
3. Click on Ideas > Idea submissions
4. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on “Let’s go”

As a heads-up, it's good to know that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.
