My Question or Issue

My daughter became 13 years old last July and as far as I understand she can have her own account (living in Spain). But as soon as I enter her DOB I get an error saying that she's underage.

 

I played with the DOB and realized that nobody born in 2007 could open an account, but anyone born before 01st January 2007 could.

 

I know I can enter the incorrect year but I'd like to know if there's a way of doing it following the T&Cs.

I recommend trying to make an account again. If the problem persists, try refreshing your device. If this still doesn't work, try going to this link:
https://support.spotify.com/us/account_payment_help/account_help/

A friend of mine had the same problem (a few minutes ago). I told her to refresh her device but it still persists. However, it worked when she deleted and reinstalled the app. If refreshing doesn't work, you should try doing what she did. Hope this helps!

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

Would you mind trying to set up an account for your daughter again, only this time using a private or incognito browser? Sometimes the cache and cookies in your browser can cause such behavior and this is an easy workaround. You could also try with another device, if that's an option. 

If that doesn't fix things a screenshot of the error message you are receiving would help us out a lot in getting to the bottom of this. You can attach it to your post via the Insert Photo option, just be sure to hide any private or sensitive information.

Outcome:

 

Ended up contacting Spotify Support and tried all they told me: change network connection, use different browsers, tried in Private Mode (did it in different wifi connections and browsers), used three different devices (mobile, laptop and PC) but nothing work.

 

After several mails back and forth someone advised me to set up her account with my DOB and change it afterwards to hers. So created her account with my DOB but when I tried to change to her DOB gave me the same error, so now I'll wait until 01st January 2021 to make the change.

 

An absolute waste of time. I believe it's wrongly set up at their end.
