I'm trying to link my account to an email, but it says the email is taken

I used to log in using my Facebook, but it's not working anymore, so I try adding my email to my account but it says the email is taken. This shouldn't be possible!

Hey there,

 

Thanks for posting in the Community!

 

In this situation, it's very likely that you've previously registered another Spotify account with this specific email address, but no worries. You can close this other existing account and depending if it's on Premium or free you can follow the steps in this help article

 

Note that it takes 14-30 days for an email address to become "available" again so you'd have to wait for some time before you can register it on the account you're currently using. 

 

In case you need to reset the password of the secondary account, you can do so via this link: https://accounts.spotify.com/password-reset
