Thanks for that info, that's really helpful!

You can only close your account if you set up your account with a free trial via your email, or if you have a premium subscription (more info on the reasons behind this can be found here).

However, if you would like to remove your account and unlink it from your Facebook you can do that by following these steps below:

To unlink your Facebook account from Spotify, head over to your Preferences page within the Desktop app: 

1. Windows: Click Edit in the Menu bar.
   Mac: Click Spotify in the Menu bar.
2. Select Preferences. 

From there select Disconnect from Facebook under Social Network. You'll know it's disconnected when the button changes to say Connect to Facebook.
