Insult to Injury: Premium remains 'free' version -- but more ads than ever

Insult to Injury: Premium remains 'free' version -- but more ads than ever

Finally decided to take the plunge and go premium this afternoon.

And so the nightmare begins.

After setting up payment via PayPal I:

Logged out of Spotify and then back in. But still in free mode.

Logged out universally of all Spotify apps between devices and laptop. But still stuck in free mode.

Finally, begrudgingly: Uninstalled the app and re-downloaded Spotify. Logged back in. But still stuck in free mode.

But the added bonus: Now there are more ads than ever, playing more frequently -- before going premium.

Ready to cancel.

Please advise.

Hey there!

Check out these steps from the help pages

I upgraded to a Premium subscription, why am I on Free?

Have you upgraded to Premium, but can’t make use of any Premium features? Don’t fear! Here are a few things you can try:

- Log out and back into your account again.

- Reinstall the Spotify app, following these steps.

Why?
Occasionally it’s necessary to force a sync of info between your device and our account information system.

Still didn’t work?
If you’re still showing as Free, you might have another account with us that has been upgraded to Premium instead.

If you feel this could be the case, you can reach out to us on Twitter @SpotifyCares, or email us via our contact form.

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

Yep, I did all of that. Someone at Spotify needs to address this. I think Premium got set up to an old dead account I had years ago. Weird.
