Language of recommendations

I live in Sweden, but am not interested in Swedish music and more importantly not interested in Swedish podcasts at all. Preferably I'd like US podcast recommendations. I  can't find any way to change this in the settings?

I've set my language preference to US, but it doesn't seem to change anything (It may in fact only apply to the community here, I don't know.)

I have a family subscription if that matters?

I want this for myself too.

But I'm getting the German podcast recommendations only. I guess there is no way except searching for the US podcasts in the search to see the other podcasts. -.-

I have the exact same problem. I am swedish but swedish podcasts are really uninteresting. It is so frustrating that ALL podcasts on the "podcasts"-tab are swedish ones, even though my language is set to english and I only ever listen to english podcasts.

Thank you for your replies and feedback. We just came across this thread.

There's currently not any direct solution to this. The only thing we suggest that you do is to continuing listening to your international music and podcast so that the algorithm improves.

However there's an idea - [All Platforms] Customize Start Screen. You can leave a +VOTE and Subscribe to the idea for any updates regarding this.

This is unfortunately not solved at all. Still very much an issue, and a major annoyance. I see language, artists, podcasts, recommended playlists, that I do not want to listen to or even see.

Why is this issue marked as "solved"? And when I click on the link there, it takes me to a page saying "Access Denied."

Spotify's priorities are clearly not the basic functionality and convenience of its users. I'm considering switching to a competitor, and would recommend my friends to do the same.

This is a new problem for me and I thought it’s cause I have Spanish and German in my Duolingo, but that’s been the case for over a year. (I live in the US and have never been to Europe, but have been to SA/CA). Spotify just decided this fall that I want to listen to 50% of my music in German. Literally HALF. I DON’T. I don’t want to listen to any music in German! Annoying there is no solution to this. I hide every song I can and it started subbing for Spanish. I hide all those too. I wish you could still 👎 on their playlists. You have to go into the menu on every song to hide it, but it kindof works. It’s been going WAY off in recommending songs lately as well though. Picking genres I never listen to and such. So all my playlists by Spotify are garbage for months now despite not changing what I actually listen to or search. They’re really f*king things up lately.

hey !

spotify actually suggest stuff based on your country. For exemple, I live in France, so my debit card is french, and my top 50, or top hit playlists (among all the other ones made by spotify) are full of french songs / based on french people taste... which sucks lol
