Logging in works everywhere except on accounts.spotify.com (using username/password)

I updated my password a couple of weeks ago and I use a username and password to log in to Spotify (i.e. not using my Facebook account to log in).

 

I'm able to log in to Spotify on my iPhone and using the Windows app but when I try to log in on the web (spotify.com / accounts.spotify.com) it says "Incorrect username or password.". And yes, I am using exactly the same username and password as I used for the iPhone and Windows apps, tried logging out on both of them and logging in again and it works. But providing the same credentials on accounts.spotify.com fails.

 

What is the problem?

Hey @bjorgvino,

 

Are you using any special characters in your username / password? That could be a reason.

 

Try logging into your Spotify profile on your browser here with your email. Your username will be displayed after you login. See if that works.

Your link takes me to the same login page as I used before, at https://accounts.spotify.com/en/login.

 

Logging in with my email address instead of the username doesn't help either.

Turns out the issue was that the Desktop and iPhone clients use Facebook login as fallback behind the scenes, whereas the web client doesn't.
