Mr. Incognito listens to this

Hey guys!
I have noticed how whenever I look at an artist's or album's page, and one or more of my Facebook friends have listened to this artist/album, Spotify has started to tell me so. This is fine for 95% of what I listen to, but...

Recently I have started to compile playlists of all songs that charted back in the 90's, and in doing so I have listened to snippets of a whole bunch of songs I would rather people didn't see. I would prefer if "My Name listens to this" doesn't come up every time a friend clicks on Ricky Martin or German techno-queen Blümchen. 

Of course I don't post to either Facebook or Spotify while listening to these songs. But are they still tracked by Spotify so that they will show up when other people look at these artists' pages? And if so, is there a way to avoid this?

Whenever I don't want anyone else to see what I am listening to, including folks who follow me on Spotify, I just make my session private by clicking on my name in the upper right hand corner of my Spotify page and click on "Private Session".  When you want to go public again, just click on Private Session again.  🙂  I do that all the time if I am listening to snippets of songs on a new album for instance to see if I like it.  I don't need everyone knowing what I am doing all the time!  lol  You can also make your session private via your smartphone under your settings by checking the private session.

Yes, i also use private session quite a lot, and it is a handy feature. However, what I am wondering is whether my listens are still being tracked so my name will appear next to an artist's or album's name when someone views that specific artist/album's page. 

For example, if I go onto Daft Punk's page on Spotify, the upper right corner will say "27 listeners in your network" and then go on to list all of them by name. This is what I wish to avoid for certain artists as "*Insert My Name*  listens to Aqua" doesn't really represent me as a person... 😛

I know what you are talking about, but I'm not sure what the answer to the question is.

Also to add on to my last post,

the "listens to" usually only happens if you have listened to a song a lot. So if you have just listed to a song a few times, I don't think it will show up for your network to see that you listen to it.

I have found that if I listen under a private session, nothing is displayed.  However, if I want to go one step further, I go under the "edit" tab and then under "preferences" I uncheck some of those items at the top of the page.  Uncheck all 6 if you want to completely private.  I uncheck all those and go under private session for complete privacy.
As far as under on each artist's page where it says how mnay listeners are in your network, I am not sure the answer to that...I would love to know myself actually.  If you or Matt does find out how to hide your name from that area of an artist's page, I hope you do share it, just for my own curiousity if nothing else.  🙂
