My Question or Issue
When I go to create an account for my daughter using her email address it says it already has an account existing. The email actually links through to my account. I have read the advice to change this would be to log in with her email and close the account, but because this is actually my account that has the family plan attached I don't want to do this. How do I change it so her email address is not linked to my own account, so I can then create an account for her and add her to my family plan. At the moment it means we can't both be listening to spotify on our devices at the same time.
Hey @BenPO,
Thanks for reaching out.
You can update your email address at https://www.spotify.com/account/profile/ 🙂
Hope this helps!
Hi Maxim - I tried that, but it only allows me to change my primary email. My daughter's email still links to my account. Her email doesn't appear at all as an email on my account. It somehow just logs into my account and I can't create a new account using her email address. Ben
Hey @BenPO,
Thanks for getting back.
The issue you're experiencing should technically not be possible, since only one email address can be linked to one Spotify account at all times. It's also not possible to have two Spotify accounts under one email address.
Maybe she's a member of your Premium Family plan already using an account? But even if that were the case, her email address shouldn't log you into your account if you have a different email address set within your account.
I recommend double-checking it all again, and if you continue to believe that two emails log you into the same account, feel free to reach out to Support at https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/ 🙂
this has happened to me also. My husband had logged into to my account and we shared one account for awhile. Somehow Spotify has connected his email address, and now we want to create a duo account, it is not possible. His email adddress pops up an error saying it is already linked to an account when he tries to create an account.
