My job uses a VPN that will not allow Spotify to operate

My job uses a VPN that will not allow Spotify to operate

I live and work in the USA and my VPN only connects to California. Spotify work fine when the job VPN is disconnected but as soon as I log in Spotify looses connection. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and the problem persists. Can I set perameters to allow Spotify to use my standard connection instead of looking to the VPN?

Hi @EddieGarza 🙂
As far as I know, Spotify only has the Proxy option in settings. I am not sure if you could bypass your VPN or not within the computer settings itself.
I often used my company's VPN when I worked remote at my previous job and it was not possible to access anything they had set as restricted (Spotify included) while you accessed their network.
My best suggestions would be - if you have Premium you could download playlists for offline listening or see about accessing it on another device.

Hope this helps and have a great day! 🙂

I had kinda the same question. My company doesn't mind doing pretty much anything, i listen to Spotify all the time at work but i'm working from home right now, with hundreds of users sharing a same network, we have our own Internet line but it's no time for bandwith waste right now. But i guess there is no luck.

Hey there @Dt-Sodium,

Thanks for posting about this here in the Community!

If you haven't already, it's worth reaching out to your network's/VPN's administrator to see if it's possible to set Spotify as a restriction. They should be able to take a closer look and help further with this.

In the meanwhile, you can always follow the workaround @Bethany_Dawn shared above.

Hope this is helpful but don't hesitate to give us a shout if there's anything else!

Have a lovely day 🙂
