Not able to Sign Up

Hi.

I was trying to sign up an account for my son just now and suddenly the sign up form does not seem to work.  I am not able to pick any username.  It highlights the box in red but does not give an error message. Did something change?

---   NEVERMIND ---  it failed multiple times but started working again.  all good.
