Not able to transfer account email to different email connected to deleted account

Not able to transfer account email to different email connected to deleted account

I had an account with one email (for example, A) connected to it, and I deleted that account. Now, with my active account, it is not allowing me to change the email with the current account (B) to the other email (A).

Whenever I try and edit it on the account settings, it says 'We're sorry, that email is taken'. However, there is no active account associated with the email (A)? I am thoroughly confused.

 

How do I change account B's email to email A?
