Not approved but charged for student Premium Account

Not approved but charged for student Premium Account

Two nights ago, I attempted to upgrade my account to a premium student account. Whatever the "authentication" service is, it was not able to find me, and so the upgrade process was not completed. However, because my credit card details were also entered, I have been charged for the service which I see on my credit card bill. I have no receipt, my account still says "free", and un-installing and re-installing, linking/unlinking Facebook, all of those bizarre ways of solving this problem are not working. At this point I have no desire to actually have a Premium account, I just want a refund for the charge that really was never authorized. I see this has been going on for years, and must be a fairly rich source of revenue for Spotify. Is this why there is no fix?

Hey @mojonyu,

Did you get an email receipt for your subscription purchase?

In it, it shows the Spotify username you paid for:

Username/ID: xxxxxxx

Logout of the app, and be sure to use it, instead of your email address, to login to your account. It's the one with the Premium features.

If you didn't get any email receipt, sometimes the amount gets 'on hold' even if the charge doesn't go through. Normally the amount gets back to your bank account a day or two later.

No receipt and the charge remains after 4 days.

You should fill out the contact form, and someone from Spotify will be happy to see what's going on within 24 hrs. Don't forget to check your spam folder for responses as they may end up there.

If you get an automated email directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to support@spotify.com and one of the customer services agents will get back to you.
