The password field is completely greyed out and I can't change it, set a new one or set up a password at all.

Is this a recent occurrence or something you've had for a while now? And is it only on a specific device or on all the devices you have? In any case, consider performing a clean reinstall, if this is some intermittent tech issue that should resolve it.
