Play saved tracks after deleting account

I have paid an ongoing subscription from Spotify and I feel I am wasting my money. I cannot find a way to transfer/download/ save the Mp3 tracks I want onto my computer separate from Spotify. If I am paying, this is equivilent to buying the music tracks isn't it? I should be able to download them and cancel my Spotify account and still have these tracks on Media Player  since I paid for them.

If there is no way of downloading the tracks I paid for and keeping them (regardless of having a Spotify account active or not) then why am I paying a subscription at all?

Can somebody tell me how I transfer Mp3 tracks I want to save onto my computer?
