Premium - Data use

Solved!

Premium - Data use

This may be a silly question. I have to do a lot of traveling this month and was considering upgrading to Premium so I can listen to music on my long flights. Since I would be able to download the music and listen offline, would this still use up my data and run my bill up?

Thank you

The way the app works, is that when you make music available for offline use, it will download it inside of the app so that way it will play and won't constantly eat up your mobile data when you are on the go or you don't have an internet connection.

After you have downloaded the songs you want to listen to in offline mode, make sure to go into the app settings under "playback" and turn "offline mode" on. If your phone is in airplane mode, the app will detect no internet connection and will put the app in offline mode.

As long as you make sure the app is in offline mode, it will not use your mobile data.

Thank you so much!

I have been downloading the songs and playing them but it still eats my data - perhaps because I am not in offline mode.

I expected that once downloaded Spotify would select the local copy instead of the internet - this does not seem to be the case as even theough "download over celullar" is set to off the background data is very high.

This does not seem to make sense .
