Premium for Family Playing Simultaneously

Premium for Family Playing Simultaneously

Hi Spotify Community,

My wife and I have Premium for Family. We are both at work, and both are trying to listen to our separate playlists at the same time. On my iphone, it reads "You are listening on Jsmith" (her phone).  On her phone, it reads "You are listeing on rsmith" (my phone).  And, it keeps kicking us off when we choose our phone.

I thought the point of having a Premium for Family account is so that we can listen simultaneously?

Any help is appreciated...

Hey there! Welcome to the community!

To use Spotify Family, everyone from your family has to have their own account. She can create her account and then you can invite her on this page. To read more about Spotify Family take a look at this page! If you have any questions or run into issues, just let me know!

Have a nice weekend! 🙂

Hi Huib,

Actually, my wife is the Premium account, and I had a Free account.  I complained about commercials. So, she upgraded to Family and invited me.  I accepted her invite. But when we both tried to listen to separate songs, it kept kicking us off...

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Based on the message that you're receiving, it looks like you and your wife is currently logged in on the same account.

I'd suggest you to log out of the account, and log in using your respective credentials:

  • If you created your account using Facebook, just click LOG IN WITH FACEBOOK.
  • If you created your account through Spotify, just use your username (not your email address) and password to log in.

If it still didn't work, then I'd suggest you to contact Spotify directly through their Contact form, so they can check your account from their end, and to better explain what happened.

You may also reach them through their twitter account @SpotifyCares, or through their Facebook page.
