Qs on importance of hashtags for artists and where to include in release

My Question or Issue

On Android when clicking into an album there is a small icon that when pressed, previews a track from the album. I've noticed with some/many artists the splash screen that appears also displays three relevant hashtags. 

How as an artist would I display hashtags like this for a release? I this distributer specific? 

How important are these hashtags? 

I do not use hashtags when searching but have noticed when trying that it tends to bring up more playlists than the search term alone.
