RECENTLY PLAYED SONGS LIST GONE

JUNE UPDATE OF SOFTWARE REMOVES "RECENTLY PLAYED" LIST OF SONGS.

Software updates and removes RECENTLY PLAYED SONGS list and replaces it with ALBUMS only verson. No longer can you see a list of music you've played. The History optiosn only show ALBUMS. They have removed the "SONGS" list option.

After ten years of membership I transfered myh music over to APPLE and found out THEY don't have a list of songs unless you MAKE ONE. Kinda bad tbh.

Have you tried the History tab on the Play Queue?

on the 'Now Playing' bar at the bottom of desktop Spotify, click the Queue button.

click the History tab.

you'll see about 50 of the last songs played.

I was referring to the iPhone mobile app, not the Desktop app.

You all!! There IS a way to see your recently played songs on Spotify FREE on the mobile app! Go to one of your playlists, and there should be a button that says "add songs". Tap that, then if if you swipe through the suggestions, you should see the one which is your list of recently played songs. for me it has "suggested", "modern rock for you", "k-pop for you", "recently played", and "songs you liked". This is a neat little function i use if i come across something cool and don't catch it in time. Hopefully this helped. Note that you can't be using any pirated Spotify Premium from third-parties. I included an example as an attachment.

Hey there @MountainMaat,

Thanks for posting about this here in the Community!

No worries, you should still be able to find the Recently Played list.

On the desktop app, you can find this in Your Library.

If you're on the mobile app and you have the new look, you can find your Recently Played songs, albums and playlists on Home.

If you're having troubles, it'd be helpful if you could share a screenshot of what you see so we can take a closer look. Just make sure that no private or sensitive info is displayed when sharing a screenshot here in the Community.

Let us know how you get on! We'll be right here if you need more help.

Have a lovely day 🙂

Hi! First of all I'm sorry if I am asking something someone already answered somewhere, been checking threads and comments but cannot find what to do. Thing is I used to have Your Library on the left sidebar menu, with several options below such as Made for you, Recently played, etc.
Recently played is the feature I used the most, cause there I could quickly find all the albums im currently listening and play them pretty fast. Now for some reason, the menu changed and I can't see those options under Your Library anymore.

Before, it was like this:

Hadita12_1-1622224838174.png

Took that pic from here:  https://community.spotify.com/t5/FAQs/How-can-I-look-at-my-listening-history-on-desktop/ta-p/1213407

But now it changed to this:

Hadita12_0-1622224720598.png

If I click Your library it opens to the right a menu that doesn't have recently played and I really can't find all that content useful at all...

Is there a way to get the old left sidebar menu back?

Thank you so much!

Hey @Hadita12,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.

With the new desktop app interface, you can find your recently played content two ways; one is going to Home (left side menu) and scrolling down a bit until you find the Recently played section, or you can click on the Play Queue button  and you'll see on top of that page the tab Recently played, where you'll find all you recently played content in a more organized playlist-like view.

Hope this helps. We'll be right here in case you have any questions 🙂

I see the Play Queue button as you say, but it shows songs.... What I want is the left side of the menu like this:

Hadita12_0-1622267805077.png

because this option showed recent albumsss, not songs.. I am an album listener person... and I really miss that optionn 😞

Is it gone forever?

Now I see left menu like this, and if I click Your library it opens the content on the right as u see in this screen:

Hadita12_1-1622267894047.png

MAybe my desktop app is wrongly installed? That is the only hope I have 😞

Thanks for the screenshots @Hadita12!

We think we understand what you mean. The section you're referring to is now found in Home. Scroll down a bit and you should see the different content that you have played.

Should look similar to this:

Capture (1).png

And by the way, if you're resolution is high enough, you'll also be able to see the album played with the previous method > just go to queue and click recently played on top and it should appear as a column in the list like this:

capture2.PNG

Hope this clears things up!

You're so wrong, Katerina and Peter. Check your Spotify again and return with an answer.
Recently Played only displays my recently played entire albums. If I listened to an individual song, the album on which that song is located is not even shown.

Hi there @Mexhigh,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

Currently the Recently Played tab only shows albums and playlists you've listened to recently. If it's not updating and you're not seeing roughly the same lineup on all your devices, we'd recommend logging out everywhere and performing a clean reinstall of all the apps you're using. This way you'll force a server resync with your account, and clear any cache that might be corrupted.

If you want to leave any feedback on how the New Desktop app works, you can head over to this Feedback thread and add your comments, as our developers are looking for direct user feedback 🙂

Hope you find this info useful.

Thank you for reaching out, @Alex, but no, i do not find your answer useful at all.

The issue was not having a history of songs recently played on any device, mobile or desktop. You haven’t provided us with a solution or even a reason for this omission because there is no logical explanation. Has any of the moderators actually paid any attention to this thread at all?

Maybe deep down you at Spotify really want to tarnish your image and reputation by off-topic replies on forums, bickering with Apple about subscription fees and generally pi§§ing on your clients at the same time.

Maybe you think I've overreacting. But brand loyalty has never been about reasoning but emotional reactions. And Come Xmas you will have lost me as a client.

Hey @Mexhigh,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

If the issue occurs only on Desktop, it could be a device-related issue. As @Alex mentioned, it's a good idea to give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If the issue persists, you can also try running the app as administrator. Are there any changes?

Could you try again sharing a screenshot with us? That way we can investigate this further.

Keep us in the loop! We'll be right here if you have any questions.

This answer does not address the questions. The question asked was how to see laist or recently played *SONGS*. Looking at "Recently Played" in "Your Library" will show only recently played artists and playlists.

but the one on the home page on the mobile app has 12 items in the list? if you think thats enough, youre very wrong. and im sure artists that i listened to a month ago would like another listen, but i cant remember all that. and i shouldnt have too. you know that info! i bet you know every song ive listened to since the beginning, but you can only tell me the last 12? and i shouldnt have to save an album or playlist for it to show up in my library. you took something that was almost automatic with the recently played list and made it overly complicated with saving and following.

tidal. what? TIDAL! huh? apple music. apple? APPLE MUSIC! ok ok but let me see how they handle this. no. they ruined their chance. come on. tidal. apple. well maybe.. ill see........

WHY CAN'T WE JUST CLEAR THEM ALL WITH ONE ACTION? THIS SITUATION IS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT TO LOYAL SPOTIFY USERS.

Did you follow your own instructions and verify that SONGS choice is missing ? Recently Played shows ALBUMS PLAYLISTS ARTISTS but no longer SONGS

Hey there @MountainMaat,

Thanks for getting back in touch and clarifying!

Apologies for the confusion 🙂

In this case, we'd recommend adding your +VOTE and feedback to this idea. This way, you can stay up to speed with any news we have regarding bringing back the Recently Played list in Your Library or of it including songs along with playlists, artists, radios or albums.

If you'd like to find more info about how your feedback reaches Spotify or how ideas get implemented, we'd suggest taking a look at this Spotify Answer

Hope this helps clarify things! Don't hesitate to give us a shout if there's anything else we can help with.

Have a lovely day 🙂

Why aren't my playlists in order??

In my mobile when I go to My Library, and then Playlists...it orders the Playlists by last used. What happened??

Why can't they be in the order they are put like on a PC?? I am used to have the lists in a specific order, but now I get confused every time. Darn it you guys have made the interface worse! STOP THIS!!! I might have listened to ONE song from a playlist I do not play so much, I do not want that Playlist to be at the TOP of the playlists when I go to My Library on my phone!

And bring back the complete Recently Played function as it was before, not this bad one that comes under HOME and it shows you just like 5 of the last played songs.

STOP TRYING TO CONTROL WHAT YOUR USERS LISTEN TO!!!

I’m with you, I tried dealing with this version but it’s trash. My Apple Music trial is about to expire. That’s where I’m going. Cancelling.
