Random Music

Random Music

For some reason the following music is randomly playing on my phone and compute every other day or so:

- music by Julian Fugart https://open.spotify.com/user/dupain11/playlist/7rqzAXvewTD14x7asyn53l; and

- music by Dave Skuts https://open.spotify.com/user/david_oram93/playlist/3KfaV0qrNJWZNs5eqFW5EP

I have never listed to it, nor do I know who or what it is.

I do not appear to be logged into any other devices although I cannot change my password for some reason. I assume it's because i'm signed in through Facebook.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I would rather not delete my account but this is very annoying so it may come to that!

I can report that this is happening to me as well.

I'm starting to think that this is a fraudulent scam.

1. Put crappy music on Spotify that randomly samples lots of tracks so it never gets autflagged for piracy.

2. Hack peoples accounts.

3. Play these tracks whenever they are not logged in.

4. Cash royalty checks from Spotify for play time.

It has happened the same to me! the same user dupain11 !!

Please Spotify Ltd. do something! I don't feel safe with my own account!

Hey @dannypamma@dougrathbone and @joanvg,

Sorry to hear about this. We suggest that you go through this help article to solve the issue. Music playing randomly or unrecognizable songs being added is also applicable there.

Let us know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

There are no other devices showing as playing, and I use facebook login so
it's strange to think how my account may have been hacked or being
indirectly controlled.

Hey @dougrathbone,

Just wanted to check how it's going. Are you still having trouble with this? Did you check out the article?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this issue! I thought I was going crazy!
Ever since I changed phones (from OnePlus One to OnePlus 6, which also causes suspicion), I've had seemingly random (and not very great) music play on 'Chrome webplayer' (which I don't use). Not the same you list though.

I've followed all the advice from the help-pages to the letter. For extra measure, I've even changed my FB-password, then logged myself off of all pages and devices on both Facebook and Spotify, then changed the password again, and set up two-step authentication, and still this bugs me. Weirder still, my Facebook account seems to be completely fine, which makes me think this might be a Spotify-only issue, or perhaps not even an authentication issue, but a deeper Spotify-issue. If this keeps going on and I can't control my own music anymore, I'm even considering canceling Spotify and going back to good old offline music 😞

Hey @TonyH0.

If you feel like another person is using your account, be it a friend or a stranger, try the following steps:

  • Change your Spotify password
  • Change the password to your email address associated with your Spotify account
  • Chang the password to your Facebook profile (If your Facebook profile has been connected to your Spotify account) and Log your Facebook profile out from every device which can be done here.
  • Log Out Everywhere on your account page

If that doesn't help, we'd like to refer you to this link to the support page where you can get further help in case someone is using your account, or even if it looks as if someone is using your account.

We hope that helps. Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day,

I'm gonna be the first to set off a warning flair on this one.

I've reset my facebook password, logged all my devices out, and a week later i'm now playing a bunch of other random tracks through the web player when i'm not online.

The tracks are different now:

Nic Tanza - Ruby 8 https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6ruhp7tS2gIE2Ash4kiZgt

Nic Ranza - Robot https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5V2LuUNLfkK7b72fziwGTe

Spotman https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5zVCaA6TAgFVXMqVdSZkvm

Spotman2 https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0eoYP79TQMzPrZFViG99le

Spotman3 https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Qyl33i8rrFDMhvWF2nUVv

"mixed bad beats" playlist has is filled with tracks that have single color, generic looking album covers (screen shot attached). https://open.spotify.com/playlist/43mfNuVlRRo2wGtzwG1SIY

I'm 99% something is really wrong - either someone is hacking my account (have removed all my browser plugins, changed my passwords etc), or someone has found a way to hack Spotify accounts to earn royaltys.

All of the tracks that I find playing in my account as all genericly named, with no cover art minus a single color and some crappy font for a name. Most of the songs when you play them are actually slivers of 5 seconds clips of other songs.

Spotify needs to look into this, as it appears from the outside like a potential breach.

You most likely have autoplay on, this is a base feature on Spotify that plays music that it thinks you’ll enjoy, go to your settings, go to playback and turn autoplay off if you would not like it on anymore.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing...this is a hack. All the random music is generic and weird and short. At one point all my playlists were deleted and only 1 was left, a random artist I’ve never heard of it.

I’ve logged out of everything, changed my password, and I don’t even have a Facebook account. There’s no way I’m being continually hacked, this must be a Spotify issue. Or possibly Ubuntu, which is what it keeps trying to play music off of.

Im about to just cancel and move on. No reason for this headache.

I've since had Spotify security reset my account, however 2 weeks later
this is happening again. I agree that this seems to be a spotify problem.
Hoping my playlists don't get messed up though, have been a spotify
customer for years.

I have the same problem, SPOTMAN playlist as my most played. F*ing up my discover weekly. SPOITIFY do something please!

Would also be interested to hear about this, my account has also been playing random Eastern European music. Contacted spotify to reset all devices & password (which was NOT shared with any other services).

Haven't had songs skipping since (yet) or other random devices showing in the connected devices tab, however my "recently played" section is still filling up with this music???

Would love to know what is going on, spotify support refused to provide which IP addresses have accessed my account? Is this not basic security measures? Thankfully under GDPR (New EU data regulation) I should be able to retreive all personal data they hold about my account but that seems a bit far to take it for a basic question!

+1 on thinking that this is a potential breach, as mentioned the password was used on no other service.

I was having this exact same issue and tried signing out of all devices which did not fix the problem.

I reached out to Spotify and had them sign me out of all devices and change the email account associated with my profile. This seems to have solved the problem.
