My Question or Issue

My recently played playlists do not update. I've tried to reinstall, tried to log off and log in and tried to listen to playlists on Spotify web and mobile and it didn't work. In Spotify web and mobile everything is working. On Spotify desktop I only have a playlist on recently played and it doesn't go away. It's a playlist created by a friend of mine. At one point I followed him and he followed me on Spotify. I listened to his playlist and never left recently played.

Spotify is currently aware of an ongoing issue causing the behavior that you describe, and has the right folks looking into it. I recommend adding your vote to this ongoing issue; as well as subscribing to it by clicking the three-dots menu in the top-right area of screen and selecting "Subscribe," so that you receive relevant updates regarding this issue.
