Shuffle Repeating

Spotify shuffle seems to be repeating the same 100 or so songs, I have a playlist with about 1,000 songs and spotify only plays the first hundred or so but it only does this when on shuffle. I tried following the solution found on this post which hasn't worked and I tried clearing the cache for the app as well with no avail, this was happening on my phone too but I attributed that to the fact that I'm nearly out of space on my phone, but since its doing it on my desktop as well I was wondering if this is a general spotify issue.
