Someone appears to have hijacked my account

When I log in to Spotify my username appears for a split second in the top right corner but is then immediately replaced by "Steven Gerritse" who is completely unknown to me. All my playlists have been replaced with his. Please get this sorted for me or explain how I can get my account back.

@redlenin - It sounds like someone else's Facebook has become tied to your real Spotify account. First thing to do is break the Facebook connection. You can do that by going to Edit/Spotify > Preferences > Social Network > Disconnect from Facebook in the desktop client.

Once that is done, you should be able to restore your playlists here:

Thanks for the prompt response - much appreciated!

I've disconnected from Facebook but Steven Gerritse still appears top right of the screen.

It can sometimes take Spotify a little while to play catch up to profile changes, so I would give it a little time.

A clean re-install of the client will also remove any data stored in your client:

Yes, I'd already decided that a reinstall would be a good idea. I'll let you know in a few minutes if it works.

It hasn't.

After the install I checked that Facebook wasn't connected (and it wasn't) but the problem remains.

Sorry to bump but this is not an acceptable position to be left in by Spotify. If it's happened to me then it's probably happened to many others, too.

Hi, did you resolved the problem? I have the same.

No, I haven't and I doubt that we're alone in having this problem.

Can someone from Spotify please comment?

Hi redlenin. I just checked it again. It looks like it solved. No strange name on my account. Yesterday I have tried everything without a success. This morning as well so I gave up. Half an hour ago I tried to log again and. ... success! It took them more than 24 hours to disconnect someone's Facebook account from mine. I hope it is for good.

I'm glad this worked for you but it hasn't for me.....

Why has this thread been marked as Solved when it clearly hasn't been??

NOT SOLVED !!!

Please look at this again.

As it says on the side:

Please bear in mind that the Community is not an official Spotify support service. It's a place where we all help each other, whether we work for Spotify or not. So please use your discretion when using the forum.

Have you tried contacting them via this form (the "official" method)?
