Spotify Premium Upgrade - Sorry, wrong password

I recently deactivated my Spotify premium subscription and tried to reinstate it just this morning. After I've selected my payment method and entered my password on the upgrade page, I get the "Sorry, wrong password" error message.

 

I saw that there were several other users who ran into the same issue but none of the fixes in those threads worked for me. I never connected with Facebook so I can't log in and out of that. I did try logging in and out of both the desktop version and website though and that didn't help. I cleared the cache in Firefox (and even tried using Chrome to upgrade instead) to no avail. The browsers on my Android tablet return the same error. I know it's not a credit card problem because my payment method is PayPal.

 

Any suggestions?

Can you try changing your password from your online profile and see if that makes any difference?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused so bear with me a moment. To upgrade to premium, make sure you are logged into spotify then go to your subscription page where you should see an option to upgrade to premium. Once you have entered your payment details, spotify shouldn't be asking you to provide your password again, as far as I'm aware.

I'm already logged in but it still asks me to confirm my password under a "Authorize your payment details" heading. I'm not sure if this is unique to users who pay with PayPal or not, but it's definitely there.

That did the trick! It's not the most elegant of solutions since I've got to login again on all of my devices, but I'll take it. Thanks for your help, Peter.

Sorry for the inconvenience! If this is something that pops up again I will make sure to raise it as an issue, for this once I am willing to write it off as computers being silly haha!

I am trying to upgrade and get the message "Sorry wrong password" - I have tried everything - logging off again, changing my password, and selecting other payment options...I spent 2 hours creating a playlist for my girls' birthday party in a couple of weeks and want to download not have adverts playing every few tracks.

 

Anyone help?

I've reset my password twice: once from my profile, and another from password reset and neither of them worked to solve this problem even though I could log in successfully.

I have now been around for several days no premium account, even though I paid. I log the username, because I am not a Facebook member. It only works the Free account. Please answer the last email you received from Spotify and you should hear back from them soon.

@user-removed - Did you get an email receipt with a username in it when you subscribed? If so what username is shown?

I sign in with my username # 1129841644 and password. actually I'm in the wrong subject. would be correct "Premium Subscription but not getting premium service"

That username is a Facebook created account, do you get to your Premium if you log in with your Facebook details?

I deleted my Facebook account from an eternity. until now it has always worked with this username? I now have to make the change account???

Hmmm Facebook integration on Spotify is a little tricky sometime. I would wait and see what the support team say when they get back to you.
