Spotify Premium works on my laptop but not my phone

Hello there, 

I purchased the spotify premium free trial yesterday (11/5/14)

My laptop says that i have spotify premium, as does the accunt page on this website. However my phone app disagrees and when i try to download a playlist etc. tells me i need spotify premium.

Why is this?

Try reinstalling the app. Also make sure you are logging in with the same details as on your computer, it's really easy to accidentally have two accounts one with a Spotify username to login and another using Facebook.

thankyou, turns out i put the premium onto my facebook account, 

Is there a way in which i can find the username of this account in order to use it in places where logging in via facebook is blocked

You need two things to log in using the numerical username. 

First, the numerical username will be shown on your online overview when you log in using your Facebook account:

You need to set a special password to use with that username, which can be done here:

http://www.spotify.com/account/set-device-password/
