hello,

so my username is depressedspacecowboy. just made a new spotify account and it says my username is vyyr9amoy74thsoaqtpe72wcc, but my actual name also shows up ? idk why and i cant seem to change my account name. could use some help or clarification. thank you !

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community!

The alphanumeric name one is your username. It's designed to identify you on Spotify and it's not possible to change it. It will show up e.g. in the link or URI to your profile. 

The second name, depressedspacecowboy, is your display name. It will show on your profile, playlists and in Friend Activity.

It's possible to enter your preferred display name during sign up in the What should we call you? field. 

If you don't like your current display name, you can change it by following the steps provided in the article I linked previously.
