My Question or Issue

Around the beginning of September 2025 Spotify has started playing very random songs at a very random time - mostly late night.

At first I thought the problem is in Alexa skills, so I disabled everything leaving only a few Amazon-owned smart home skills. I also removed all routines and made sure the Alexa is as “empty” as possible.

The problem stayed. It was playing some ai-generated nonsense late at night making me wake up to turn it off.

Then I disabled Spotify skill on Alexa to see whether the problem will persist. And it did. During the day while listening to Spotify on my iPhone with latest iOS the app was pushing either nonsense tracks or piano sonata n2 by chopin.

I checked logs to see how exactly that particular song was playing up to two times a day at random, but couldn’t.

Re-enabled spotify skill on Alexa - tried to track activity. In logs it just shows that I say “Alexa stop” to stop the music, but it doesn’t show how actually it triggered.

This problem is very annoying. I tried turning off autoplay and smart features from Spotify account. I changed authentication method and a few times logged out from all devices and re-logged only at my phone. I also disabled “allow people to join jam” and any similar feature I found.

Still, today at 7AM the chopin music started playing again.

Please help. As of now Ive requested my account’s technical data from Spotify to dig into it and try to understand who and how turned those songs, but they system says the exporting might take 30 days and no guarantee it’ll have the data needed.

I basically need to see the exact source that turned those songs.

Hey @root_ and @mboca,

Thanks for reaching out.

We've seen similar reports recently and the root cause turned out to be the third-party app "Spotify Premium Plan" that @mboca already noticed. We've reported it internally and while the relevant team is working on this, we'd recommend removing it.

@root_, can you please confirm you've already done this? Your account should function normally without any apps attached so you can go ahead and remove everything you see here (not just the more obvious ones).

Additionally, our teams have continued to investigate this and found out that this can be triggered by other 3rd party apps that try to initialize music playback - one example is the fitness app "Polar Flow", which has special notification access, allowing it to launch Spotify automatically.

Please search your phone's settings for "Notification access" (it should be under Apps > Special access > Notification access) and disable the notification permissions for Polar Flow or any other app you might assume would want audio playback control and please report back the results to us, including any other apps you've found were causing this.

Keep us posted.

I have the same problem, I tried changing the password and logging out from all devices, but the problem is still here. Even disconnected all the apps I could find, and there I found one weird thing which may be the cause but I'm not sure. In the connected apps part in account settings, I have "Spotify Premium Plan" listed which I thought was weird, and I checked with my other friends who also have premium plans and nobody else has it listed. Could it be the reason this happens?

So I went over people having similar issues, re-checked everything on my end.

> No apps attached

> Authentication Gmail-only

> Only one device logged-in to Spotify (my iPhone)

And I still see some the same "chopin" composition that I never played/liked/saw ever appearing and cutting whatever I listen to at the moment.

This is very very annoying. How can we escalate this issue? I need Spotify support team to check what the fck is going on with my account, and point exactly what triggers that "chopin" composition at random times.

I've just did that and so far so good. Will monitor over the next few days, but I guess that's the only thing that I missed doing. The bastards took too neat name for their sketchy app - "Spotify Premium Plan". I couldn't think that it might be a harmful garbage, so I ignored that when saw first time, thinking it's some sort of a plugin for my Family Premium Plan.

Thanks MihailY.
