Spotify premium or not?

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my spotify free account to premium, especially with the ongoing promo (is it 0.99c/ month for three months or is it 0.99c for all three months?) I'm very interested in upgrading my account, however, I'm concerned if i have to be tied with this subscription for a certain period of time (e.g. a year?) or is it possible to downgrade/cancel subscription anytime?
