Spotify "Can't Validate" My Student Information

Spotify "Can't Validate" My Student Information

I've had spotify premium for over a year now and paid full price. I got a new credit card and forgot to change my payment information, so spotify took me back to the free version. I figured since I'm in school I should use the student discount this time to save money but every time I try to sign up for it it says they "are unable to validate my student details." I'm clicking the name of my university from their list and have the same information besides the new card. I've tried on a desktop and my phone and neither have worked. I saw that there is a "alternative solution" in which I have to upload my student documents, which I'm not totally comfortable with. I'm a U.S. citizen and have never lived anywhere else, not even out of state, so I don't really understand why it won't verify that I'm a student?? Maybe I'm just dumb and unlucky, but has anyone else had this problem and can anyone help???

Hi @ryemarshall. As you already found, if whatever reason, the process fails and states that you do not qualify, you can attempt again with manual verification from this page. 90% of the time the automatic verification process works without a hitch, but sometimes a more human touch is required. As far as uploading documents go, I believe all they ask for is a copy of your unofficial transcript, or a similar document that proves you are enrolled at a qualifying institution.

While I cannot vouch for all institutions, I know that the information my university provides on my unofficial transcript is nothing sensitive, and the information that I would consider closest to being sensitive is already included with my credit card (my name, for example). While I can understand your hesitation, be aware that any other attempt at resolving this will require a similar form of verification if the automatic process is failing for you.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or anything else I might be able to help you with. Cheers!
