Spotify was for my kids. Now I want to post music. Do I need a new account?

I have the Duo plan so my two sons can listen to music, and they do. I do not use Spotify to listen to music.

Recently I was convinced to post my own original music on Spotify. I am preparing to do so.

This might be obvious, but I have no way to confirm:

Is there any reason to believe I might get away with using the same, existing account (which is currently under my older kid's name) when I post music, or am I strongly recommended to start a brand new account for this purpose? (If the former is possible, what would I need to change?)

Hey @adamusement ,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

I'd recommend checking out this article on how to get your music onto Spotify. This doesn't have anything to do with a regular Spotify account, as it's all through distributors/aggregators.

Later on, once you have an artist page, you can request access to Spotify for Artists, where it'd be ideal if you created your own Spotify account, but this is not required at all for music distribution.

Hope this clears things up!
