Student Discount Cut Short?

Hi so I realized that I only got my Student Discount for 8 months instead of 12 months. I am now reading that I was supposed to receive an email so that I can renew my student discount (I thought it was only for 12 months, but now I'm reading that I can renew - is that real and can someone confirm?). I feel like I've been cheated and even though $10 a month isn't bad, I should have been receiving (and supposedly renewing my account) for $5 a month. What should I do? I got the discount the summer after my freshman year and now I am going into my senior year so I am still eligible. If renewing is a thing, will they reimburse me for the money I spent since I never received the option to renew? HELP!

Try using this site to validate again.

If it succeeds, when you log back in your Spotify account, and look under the subscription tab the price will change to $4.99 for your upcoming renewal date.
