Subscription Cancellation - What Happens To Playlists?

I was trying to convince a friend to join Spotify vs iTunes ...but they said if they joined and then later unsubscribed, they would lose their music whereas with i-Tunes they  will never lose their selections/music - is that true?

They advised me to go with i-Tunes and cancel Spotify....need expert opinion please - Thanks!

With Spotify you license don't own your music, so it you cancel your subscription, you will loose access to any offline playlists you have downloaded onto your devices - but you are free to listen to those playlists (and any other content) on Spotify free after you cancel if you wish!

I don't understand - this statement is very confusing and seems contradictory - what is consedered my offline playlists - those that I save to spotify or those that I create from my own cds?

Hey there @jaricangirl, welcome to the community!

I believe that @Peter__'s answer is in regards to the Premium subscription feature that allows you to listen to playlists you've made on Spotify without needing an internet connection. So, even if you cancel your Premium subscription all your music and playlists will still be there but you'll lose the ability to listen while offline. You can read more about it here.
