Subscription with gift cards

Hi,

If I premium buy gift card for a friend, will they have to give their credit card details to activate it?

In other words, will the card put them on a rolling subscription until they cancel?

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

No they won't need to, gift cards are a one off payment. As long as they follow the instructions on the card (or email if its an eCard) they won't need to enter any payment details to redeem. Once the card runs out (unless they buy another or subscribe manually) their account will revert to Spotify free.
