Tried canceling my premium subscription but not sure if it worked?

I won't be using Spotify for a while so I wanted to cancel my premium subscription, which I did the other day.

 

Now, when i look at my account overview and subscription page it only says that my subscription payment failed/I don't have a working payment method and that Spotify will try charging me again in a few days. 

 

Is this normal after canceling, and will there be any problems if Spotify keeps trying to charge money from me while I don't have a working payment method? It doesn't sound like my subscription really got cancelled and I'm worried about still being charged eventually...
