My Question or Issue

Hi all

I recently moved to Thailand from the UK. I only ever had a Free Spotify account in the UK but now we have set up home near Jomtien, I've been trying to set up a Premium account.

I get to the Your Plan page, click Join Premium and then I get a 403 Forbidden page pop up. This has happened on both of my devices and I've attempted this via a number of browsers: MS Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox and Samsung Internet. I've also tried this with Incognito and InPrivate windows and also with my VPN turned on and disconnected so I'm not sure how to proceed.

I missed out on the Promotional Offer up until 31st December because of this issue and now I've located this Help page, please help!

Any information gratefully received

Many thanks in advance

Hello @Buck2Basics!

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community. I'll be here to help you out. Can you try to purchase Premium using this link?

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Jose

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this hasn't solved the problem. I have been in IM conversation with 3 separate Spotify customer service agents and they have told me:

I'm not in Thailand when I am. I live here. They insist I'm in Singapore which is somewhere I've never been.

To turn off my VPN which I already had.

To use alternative browsers which I had already done prior to contacting them. To use Incognito (Chrome) and/or InPrivate (MS Edge) which I'd already done but I went through the motions again.

That my bank card wasn't Thai albeit it's a Bangkok Bank account card.

That my phone account was the incorrect provider despite AIS being one of the two Thai providers allowed alongside dTac.

Basically, they can't help me and have asked me to try again with another device (I've used a laptop, 2 phones and an iPad) or open another Thai bank account (!!!) which is madness. I said to them Spotify is a luxury item and for 169 THB (£4.25) a month, they really aren't worth all this hassle.

They have 'escalated' my inquiry to their payments team but I've yet to hear back from them.

What more can I say? I pay all my utilities and rent here in Thailand with either my bank card, direct debit or in some cases with my phone yet Spotify aren't equipped to do likewise. I even pay overseas bills and transfer money from here but I can't listen to music! How mad?

Hello! Thanks for your reply. If you're still having this issue after trying the troubleshooting steps you mentioned, I'd recommend you wait for a response from the relevant team at Spotify. Hopefully they'll be able to help you further.
