I just upgraded to my Premium account to a Family account, so my wife (who did not already have an acount) and I could use Spotify independently and simultaneously.
However, we share and compete for a single Premium account, my original account...

I turned out that she was logged in twice, once as me on the app, once as herself on the web. That explains it.

Can you give us a little more details about what's happening?
We'd love to help.
We have different usernames and passwords, so we don't share the same log-ing.
But only one of us can use Spotify at a time. When one uses it, the other is blocked, and the app says "You are listening on XXX".

That means that you are using the same account without realizing it. We'd recommend making sure of what your usernames and passwords are by logging in here.
