Username is different from what I put in.

I signed up with the username kikimccalla but when I look at my account or try to sign in it's saying my username is 7sqcx5i10473qhqu5vxorfu0t.

I tried emailing Spotify and they literally did nothing but tell me to come here.

How do I get my username to appear as what I entered? It gave me no issues when I signed up so I don't know why I'm getting one now. In fact when I'm in the music player it shows the correct username in the corner and let me enter it here but it's not letting me sign in with it.

The random username you get is just a simple URI code for your user profile. These codes are a simple way to keep in track of user data on the Spotify server, so you won't need to worry that much.

When others see your profile, your own username(Kikimccalla) will appear instead of your random username generated. Also, please use your email address instead of username when you login to Spotify 🙂

Is this a new rule? Because when I log in to my business’s Spotify the username under Account is the actual username and not a series of numbers and letters. Why is one different from the other?

Yes, sometimes it shows your own username instead of the random username. Strange, but it often happens to me also. You won't need to worry 🙂
