Username not available for Spotify Community

Username not available for Spotify Community

I'd like to use the same username for community as my artist page. It's saying djjeffbutton is taken already, but I highly doubt it's someone other than myself and I see no option to claim that name? Any help here?

Hey @jeffbutton80,

The username 'djjeffbutton' is already taken. Here's a link to the profile: https://community.spotify.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/1344026.

Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks for your quick response Maxim! Based on the date of registration, it's actually my account. But when visiting the Spotify Community page while logged into djjeffbutton on my Spotify account, it won't recognize it. Is there any way for me to claim it? I'd prefer to use the username that matches my artist page.

@jeffbutton80,

In this case, the only way for you to claim the account would be by resetting the password to regain access to it.

Unfortunately this does not help. It seems “Communities” and Spotify website are treated as separate entities. When I log out completely and try to reset my password, then log in with my djjeffbutton account it doesn’t seem to be linked to Communities in any way.

Sorry to hear! In this case, I'd recommend reaching out to Support. They can check out your old account in more detail 🙂

If you get an automated reply email telling you to check the Knowledgebase or the Spotify Community, you need to reply back to it, even if it's from a no-reply address. Spotify Support usually replies within 24-48 hours.
