I have a family plan with multiple users. My partner wants to start his own account completely. However he can’t sign up right now, as he is currently using his email that’s still under my master account. I would like to go down to just 1 user. If I cut him loose, will he be able to sign up for a new account and retrieve his music that he’s saved?

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Premium Family is a discount plan for up to 6 family members who live together.

Each person on the plan uses their own account, so no one shares a password and everyone keeps their own saved music and playlists.

This means that all you have to do is to remove them from your Premium Family plan. They'll then be on Spotify Free again. You can learn how to remove them at https://support.spotify.com/article/invite-remove-family-member/.

If you'd like to revert back to Premium, you can do this here.
