My Question or Issue

The quality of some songs with Spotify Connect or Google Chromecast on my Harman Kardon Omni 10+ has very low bitrate effect : for example "CODA - Dead Poet Society". I have disabled volume normalization and I have an excellent internet speed. Please help me because it's impossible to listen these songs. The quality in bluetooth or local is perfect.

Important to mention the the device will usually choose's the quality of the track which might make some tracks sound a bit less optimal.

 

Would you please provide me with the following info :

- Does this happen with a majority of songs? How many?

- Does this happen when using Spotify Connect with other devices and speakers?

- Which speakers have you tried? Only through Chromecast?

- Is the sound quality much worse, or slightly?

I guess between 5 - 10%.



- Does this happen when using Spotify Connect with other devices and

This nevers happens in bluetooth in my car, bluetooth in my headspeaker,
bluetooth on another speaker, locally on my computer or my phone.



- Which speakers have you tried? Only through Chromecast?

Unfortunately, i only can try on my Harmann Kardon omni 10+. I tried to
connect it in wifi (2.4 and 5GHz) and RJ45 with a fix IP address. Same
problem on another network in another country.

If a song has very poor quality, sometimes it's solved by restarting the
spotify app or simply changing from Spotify Connect to Chromecast
Connect (or the other way). But songs like CODA - Dead Poet Society has
always very bad quality. I desactivated the sound normalisation and this
title (and other) is very quiet.



- Is the sound quality much worse, or slightly?

Quality on bluetooth and local devices is perfect.

Can you please try streaming from another device and then from another account ? preferably one not on the Family plan.

I streamed from another device (Samsung galaxy tab 3) and with a fresh new created account but the result is exactly the same.

I'm experiencing the same issue, with the same device (HK Omni10+). I have two of these speakers and the issue is reproductible with both of them.

It feels like the speaker is not picking the best quality, but other services (like Qobuz) are streaming without this issue.

If someone on Spotify's side could investigate of this, it would be great 🙂

Hey. I have the same problem with the Omni 10+.

I think it might be a firmware problem. I try to reach out to Harman Kardon on Facebook so they can investigate. Let them know about this. I really hope they can push an update to fix it.
