What happens to my Spotify account when linking it to Facebook?

Solved!

What happens to my Spotify account when linking it to Facebook?

Hello All,

currently there are three ways to create a Spotify account (using Facebook login, creating Spotify only and "merging" Spotify only with Facebook) which is why posts about my topic don´t really match what I am looking for.

When Spotify started there was a Facebook only login option. Later they gave the choice to create a spotify only account which I waited for and then did also going premium.

While I'm not a big fan of Facebook I do have an account and it would be interesting to see what my friends are listing to and would also give me an easier way to share titles with them without the need mailing URLs.

But what would happen to my account if I link it to Facebook? Can this be undone if I don´t like it coming from a Spotify only account as in my case? Will my user/password be discarded and I will have to login using Facebook from then on?

Cheers

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Once you connect your Spotify account to Facebook, you can then sign into your account using either your Spotify username and password or your Facebook details, it won't make a difference since they go to the same account.

You are free to disconnect (or reconnect) your dedicated Spotify account from/to Facebook at any time from the Edit > Preferences > Social Network options.

When you connect to Facebook, your Spotify profile will show your real name and Facebook profile picture and you will be able to easily find, follow and share with your Facebook friends. Of course this will disappear again if you disconnect. You can also stop Spotify from posting to your timeline and manage other privacy from your Spotify client preferences (or in the app preferences inside Facebook: Account Settings > Apps).
