I can connect to the Spotify webpage via my Facebook email address and password, and this works fine. However, I wish to use the Spotify application so that I can do more advanced things such as ordering songs, which the webpage does not allow. I believe that I have downloaded and installed the Spotify app correctly. When I type in my Spotify username and password (it rejects my Facebook details as I did not originally join through Facebook), it logs in to show my home page, then immediately closes itself, stating that Windows is shutting the application down.
Hi Kristal, the Spotify account connected to your Community profile was created via Facebook, created on the 22nd March. That sound right to you?
In terms of the crashing issue, your account seems okay this end. What operating system are you running?
Hello!
I suppose that date could be correct. I know I've been using Spotify for a while now, so quite possibly!
My account only crashes when I try and log in to the Spotify app that I have installed on the computer. When using the webpage, I can log in using either my Facebook details or Spotify username and password, both work fine. This is why I find it peculiar that this issue only occurs with the app version of Spotify. It automatically shuts itself down as I log on to it.
And I am using WIndows 7.
Just a quick point. You should either log in using your facebook credentials OR your spotify username. Using both means you now have two accounts which could cause you confusion as playlists and listening history aren't shared between them.
As to your desktop client crashing, could you follow the troubleshooting steps in this post which should get things working again.
Using the Spotify app, it only accepts my Spotify credentials. This is expected seeing as this is how I orginally joined Spotify.
Using the webplayer, however, it accepts either. And both ways produce the same song history and playlists, as if they are one account.
I seem to believe that this crashing issue is due to Spotify, because my Windows 7 has not rejected any other applications, and the app works fine on any other Spotify account except my own.
My Spotify username is 1172460775.
