Why is a friend only showing as their Spotify ID?

My Question or Issue

 If someone blocks you on Facebook how do they appear on Spotify? If they are a user that you had previously followed will they suddenly show only as their Spotify ID? I am following a friend's playlist and suddenly their profile pic and name have dissapeared. It's only the number with a blank pic. I know it isn't possible to block on Spotify, I'm just curious as to why the info has changed.

This can happen because of what you mentioned, but it's most likely that this happened because they removed the link between their Facebook and Spotify accounts.
